Other Theories and Confutation

The mystery of the whereabouts of the Ark has bewildered many people since its disappearance. This is natural, because when the Ark will be “found”, it will represent the greatest historical discovery of all times.

Here are some theories among the best known.

Masonic symbols: It is amazing to notice how the account of the origins of the Masonry and the symbols in use are reminiscent of the details of our theory. Masons sustain they were established by Hiram, the architect of the Solomon’s temple, who selected  specific workers to perform exclusively at night. Such workers were God fearing and had to promise they were ready to protect the secret reason of their activity to the price of their own life.  Hiram himself was murdered by ruffians who wanted to discover the treasury. In a Masonic Lodge, the seat of the President is between two pillars named Jachin and Boaz! and more.

We remark that there is no mention of the Ark in Masonic symbols. However, this could be explained, as it was probably the very central secret of their work.

Mount Nebo: In 2 Maccabees (2:4 – 8), it says that the prophet Jeremiah, in view of the imminent Babylonian invasion, took the Ark of the Covenant from the Temple and hid it in the same mountain where is the concealed tomb of Moses.

We remark that the credibility of  the Maccabees is very little among the scholars, having been written hundreds of years after the events. It also contradicts what the Prophet himself says in his text (Jer. 3:16) “… the Ark of the Covenant… shall not come to mind – nor shall be remembered – nor shall be missed – nor shall be made one anew”.

Axum – Ethiopia: Menelik, a child of Solomon and the Queen of Sheba (without any confirmation in History), brought the Ark to Ethiopia where it is hidden in the Church of St. Mary in Axum.

We remark that the fact itself is difficult to believe. From time to time Ethiopians promise to exhibit the Ark, but to no avail. Anyway, the Ethiopians have a record for creating their own past.

Ireland – Scotland – Chartres – Egypt – Hollywood – etc.: There are numberless locations where people claim the Ark has been brought. This subject is evidently of great importance.  The conquerors of the Holy Land are all suspected of having found the Ark and taken it home. Babylonians, Persians, Shishak King of Egypt, and the Templars, in particular, in recent times.

We remark that we have to rely only on the words of the Bible to believe, in the first place, that there was an Ark. Moreover we are repeatedly told that it will remain in the place designed by God FOR EVER. Therefore, all the theories involving some kind of transportation of the Ark are baseless. One has to believe the entire story, not some chosen parts of it only.

Our theory: The Ark of the Covenant Found – in Jerusalem.
